  81                 previously, my first experience of pornography was on Sonic
  82                 Cult, but shortly after that, I discovered hentai flash games.

  86                 Flash games evoke nostalgia in basically everyone who grew up in
  87                 the 00s. For many it was Newgrounds or CoolMathGames, but for
  88                 me, it was funnyjunk. Funnyjunk was a content aggregator - it's
  89                 where I first saw a bunch of weebl's stuff cartoons, blode,
  90                 strongbad. It also linked out to a few other flash collection
  91                 websites, one was a site that collected hundreds of flash games.
  92                 Sadly, the name escapes me now.

  95                 I played a lot of (relatively) tame stuff on that site! It was
  96                 all nicked from newgrounds or armorgames or whatever, but I had
  97                 a lot of fun hitting 'random' and finding Interactive Buddy,
  98                 Bowman 2, that penguin clubbing game, you know. But also plenty
  99                 of rougher stuff!

 102                 Anyway, one day I hit random and came across a game called
 103                 Frank's Adventure - a top down lite RPG. I gave it a go, as I
 104                 always did, without really reading the instructions.

 108                 that Tye from Digimon offered you. After a bit of effort, I beat

 137                 being able to play video games and get rewarded for succeeding
 138                 with a titty was insanely enticing for me, a cumbrained idiot.

 143                 And with the aforementioned era of the internet, there was
 144                 absolutely no shortage of them! Which was <i>great</i> for me as
 145                 a horny teenager. But, sadly, this entire genre is disappearing,
 146                 at least in any kind of properly creative sense.

 149                 Plenty of porn games still exist, but by and large they have a
 150                 decidedly different oeuvre than their heyday of the early
 151                 internet. They're on steam and itch now, which is cool, but if I

 172                 limitations on what people are able to make means the games
 173                 <i>feel</i> more het, more cookie cutter. Not to 'back in my
 174                 day,' but like everything else made in flash, hentai games had
 175                 real personality. You could track a creator's works and lineage
 176                 - Z0ne is probably the most well-known example of this, but
 177                 they're far from the only one. Mittsies is out there making
 178                 full-ass video games like Helltaker and Awaria now, which are
 179                 excellent, and they got their start making MLP porn games, many
 180                 of which had some pretty extreme kinks in them. Game recognise
 181                 game, Mittsie.

 184                 So why am I writing this? Well, in short, I want to chronicle
 185                 some of these games. Revisit some favourites, if you will. Maybe
 186                 even do some analysis! Why do they work, why do they titillate?
 187                 What is it about porn games that buzzes a certain subsection of
 188                 brains just right? We may even find out something about
 189                 ourselves along the way.

 193                 kickoff. I will be updating irregularly. I don't promise to
 194                 complete every game (some are huge undertakings!) but I will
 195                 play for at least half an hour or so to get some reasonable

 219                 significant thing I will ever do as a creative, which is weird
 220                 to think about. But the point is, I contributed to the scene as
 221                 well as consumed, and I feel pretty cool about that, honestly.

 224                 <b>Secondly:</b> how do we play these games nowadays? Flash is
 225                 long-dead, after all. Well. That, my friend, is where
 226                 <a href="https://flashpointarchive.org/">Flashpoint</a> comes
 227                 in. Essentially Archive.Org for flash games, applets, headers
 228                 and so much more, it is an astonishing project that really
 229                 doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Flashpoint provides a
 230                 launcher, a packaged version of flash player that works on
 231                 modern hardware, ruffle (a flash emulator) for the games that
 232                 support it, and an exhaustive list of almost every flash Thing
 233                 you could possibly imagine, all in one convenient package. 18+
 234                 flashes are excluded from the search by default, so we'll be
 235                 toggling them on in the config if you want to play along at
 236                 home.

 239                 <b>Thirdly:</b> These games are all products of their time, and
 240                 may contain content that some may not prefer to see. I will be
 241                 operating to some extent under a [Creator Chose Not To Use
 242                 Archive Warnings] structure, where most things will not be
 243                 content-warned. I will, however, make exceptions for things we
 244                 may stumble across that include racism, homophobia, or other
 245                 things that fall under the category of hate speech. I do not
 246                 expect to see much of this, but there will likely be racist
 247                 caricatures from time to time. Additionally, any particularly
 248                 extreme kinks will be warned for; e.g. incest, lolisho, scat,
 249                 etc. Any screenshots containing warned kinks will not be shown
 250                 in-line and will only be text-linked. Everything else is fair
